Professional Profile

ABOUT

As an avid content creator and entrepreneur, with past roles as a marketing manager, co-manager, and investor, Naomi has had the unique opportunity to work on several types of high-level marketing campaigns and growth projects. Naomi has been in marketing, sports and media for 10 years and in a management capacity for different tech and entertainment companies for over 5 years. She has recruited and directly managed technology teams of over 35 people and distributed customer service in Australia and internationally. She has worked with startups and corporates, forming strategy across departments with up to 600 staff. In these roles, she has utilised high-end technology to enhance the customer experience, significantly reduced cost per acquisition and deployed different growth strategies; including sending EDMs to over 4 million people.

Story

Naomi started making tech for sports stadiums backed by a renowned investor after leaving PwC between 2012 - 2013. From there she left for San Francisco to gain more industry insight and attended Scholarship short courses at both UCLA and Stanford in 2013. At UCLA she attended a leadership and business course and at Stanford, she attended the Entrepreneurship, Leadership and International Business course at the postgraduate school.

She moved from catering tech in sports stadiums into an interest in restaurants infrastructure booking tech: Yumtable. It became the 2nd biggest booking engine in Australia and was 5th on the App Store due to different product and growth strategies she helped lead between 2014 – 2015, including the first Uber partnership in Australia. She was a Young Australian of the Year finalist (WA), delegate for the World Economic Forum and a Young Innovator of the Year finalist.

More recently, Naomi divested herself of her active investments and retained some passive ones, but even during this time, she couldn't help but see solutions to problems. She drew on experiences of engaging fans at venues, established and commercialised an engagement program for Curtin University and across Perth. This led her to establish her own media content creation business, MediaHeard in 2016.

Naomi has had a broad career – from co-running a sports, media and gambling tech consultancy focusing on M&A/investments to being a presenter for Telstra and a whole lot in between.

2014

“Naomi’s success is credited to her drive, persistence and hard work.  Naomi not only embraces the challenges that come her way, but she isn’t afraid to fail in order to learn the hard lessons of life.”

Australian Honour Roll, 2014

"In her early years, Naomi Henn was known for her exceptional sporting achievements in hurdles – both on a national and international stage.  Today, Naomi’s entrepreneurial endeavours are getting all the attention. Naomi was nominated as the youngest Delegate for the World Economic Forum. Currently she manages a start-up company, from her business and sporting achievements she was asked to mentor young people across Western Australian schools.  Remarkably, Naomi has achieved all this while working at PricewaterhouseCoopers, doing part time jobs to pay her software developers, studying as a scholarship University student and maintaining a grueling fitness regime.  Naomi credits her success to her drive, persistence and hard work.  Naomi not only embraces the challenges that come her way, but she isn’t afraid to fail in order to learn the hard lessons of life.  “If you want to do something, if you want to make a difference in the world, why should you wait until you are 21 or 30?” Naomi asks.

FEATURED IN THE WESTERN AUSTRALIAN, WEST BUSINESS "BIG DEAL"

2012

She soon learned that it was possible to push to the front, if you have the drive to succeed. It is a motto she has lived by her entire young life. “If you want to do something, if you want to make a difference in the world, why should you wait until you are 21 or 30?” she said. “You will make mistakes, but you will learn from them."

RICHARD BRANSON'S ISLAND ENTREPRENEUR'S AND ATHLETE'S SUMMIT

2014

The small gathering of fascinating individuals was held at Richard Branson's private Island, Necker. Naomi and the other guests were lucky to also be invited to his second island, Mosquito, normally reserved for his family.

Some highlights included; Nick Jacobsen's Kite Surf Jump off Richard Branson’s roof, the Blockchain summit, and when Naomi was lucky enough to be offered a job by Richard. Her highlight by far was watching Richard's routine throughout the week or so, and was pleasantly surprised when Richard thought she was a decade older than she was. She also learnt she was no good at chess (especially at Richard’s giant chess). Naomi was 20 at the time.

Naomi was thoroughly impressed with the caliber of people, the staff, the warmth of the locals and was very grateful to be invited.

YOUTUBE & SAN FRANCISCO COMEDY COLLEGE

2013 - 2016

More recently, Naomi divested herself of her active investments and retained some passive ones, but even during this time, she couldn't help but see solutions to problems. She drew on experiences of engaging fans at venues, established and commercialised an engagement program for Curtin University and across Perth. This led her to establish her own media content creation business, MediaHeard.

Creating short, fast-paced serious and humorous interview style video content, for social media and websites. Psychology and Sexology-driven educational comedy content.

At Stanford, surprisingly, Naomi fell in love with stand-up comedy.

Naomi would catch the Caltrain into San Francisco, to attend the renowned San Francisco Comedy College (2013) in the evenings after class, attended by greats like Alicia Wong Comedian. In 2016 she returned to the advanced class at San Francisco Comedy College. This background helped her evolve her hosting style.

WRITING MY PSYCHOLOGY AND SEXOLOGY PAPERS

2011 - 2016

Naomi studied Psychology and Sexology units at Curtin University, Perth. She really enjoyed writing and researching Psychology and Sexology academic papers and found a new passion area that she hopes will shape some part of her future journey. Naomi was also the face of the University Entrepreneurship Program  Learn more.

Naomi started University in High School in the evenings, “to finish quicker”, that did not go to plan. She appreciated the Scholarship yet soon thought that University wasn't for her. She was very lucky to have had such incredible tutors and heads of the school supporting her journey. Naomi wouldn’t have stayed if it wasn't for the teachers.
